When an AP Government employee or teacher completes 6, 12, 18 or 24 years of service in the same post without promotion, the Automatic Advancement Scheme (AAS) gives a Special Grade or Special Promotion Post scale. The award is often sanctioned late, so the employee is entitled to arrears from the date of award. This tool works out the pay fixation under the RPS 2022 master scale, prepares a month-wise arrears statement (Basic, DA, HRA), and gives you a printable draft proceedings for the DDO.
| Scheme order | G.O.Ms.No.96, Finance (PC-II) Dept., dt. 20.05.2011 |
| Pay scales used | RPS 2022 master scale (Rs.20,000 – Rs.1,79,000, 83 stages, 32 grades) |

AAS Calculator
How to use the calculator
- Select the AAS milestone and enter the date of joining in the present post. The award date is filled automatically (joining date + required years + EOL days) – change it if your service record shows a different date.
- Select your present scale, the AAS scale sanctioned, and the basic pay you were drawing on the award date. The tool suggests the next higher scale; correct it as per your cadre.
- Choose the month up to which arrears are to be claimed, your HRA rate and the DA rates in force during the period.
- Press Calculate. Check the fixation and the month-wise table, then print the statements and draft proceedings.
AAS milestones and fixation rules
| Service | Benefit | Fixation |
|---|---|---|
| 6 years | Special Grade scale | FR 22(a)(i) read with FR 31(2) |
| 12 years | SPP-IA / SAPP-IA scale | FR 22(a)(i) read with FR 31(2) |
| 18 years | SPP-IB / SAPP-IB | One increment in the existing scale |
| 24 years | SPP-II / SAPP-II scale | FR 22(a)(i) read with FR 31(2) |
How the tool fixes pay under FR 22(a)(i): your basic pay is first raised by one notional increment in the existing scale; the pay is then fixed at the stage next above that amount in the AAS scale (or at the minimum of the AAS scale, if that is higher). The next increment then falls 12 months after the award (you can change the month). Under “one increment in the existing scale”, the next stage in your present scale is given and your normal increment month continues.
Example: An employee in scale 32670-101970 draws Rs.40,970 on the award date. One notional increment takes it to Rs.42,140; the next stage above in the AAS scale 35570-109910 is Rs.43,310, which becomes the fixed pay.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Is my data stored anywhere?
A: No. All calculations run inside your browser. Closing the page clears everything.
Q: Why should I enter DA rates myself?
A: DA rates and their effective dates change by separate G.O.s. Enter the rates actually applied to your salary for each period so that the arrears match your pay bills.
Q: Does the arrears statement include deductions?
A: No. It shows gross differences in Basic, DA and HRA. CPS/GPF, APGLI, Profession Tax and Income Tax on arrears are to be worked out separately by the DDO.
Q: My DDO fixed a different amount. What should I do?
A: Enter the sanctioned figure in “Fixed pay override”. The arrears will be recalculated on that basis.
