Education, being a social institution serving the needs of society, is indispensable for a society to survive and thrive. It should be not only comprehensive, sustainable, but also must continuously evolve to meet the challenges of the fast-changing and unpredictable globalized world. This evolution must be systemic, consistent and scalable; therefore, teachers, administrators, researchers and policymakers are expected to innovate the theory and practice of teaching and learning, as well as all other aspects of this complex organization to ensure quality preparation of all students for life and work.

Hence, there is an imminent need to adopt innovations wherever possible to make education more effective. The portal has a Performance Grading Index with a ranking of States/ UTs based on specific indicators, it also hosts ‘Diksha’ which is an e-learning platform for students and teachers. Shaala Sarathi is an interactive platform for various stakeholders in education for scaling up promising innovations to achieve better educational outcomes.
