Government of India. MHRD, NCERT Department of Educational Survey Division has initiated the NAS — X Cycle — 2 in the year of 2017-18. NCERT has completed the first cycle of NAS class — X in the year of 2015. Further a NAS class - X Cycle — 2 is useful to understand National level assessment of learning levels across the states boards will be useful study for introspection and enhancing educational standards.
In this connection all the Regional Joint Directors and District Educational Officers in the State are hereby informed that the list of sampled schools supplied by NCERT for conduct of NAS cycle — 2 class — X are disseminated to all districts. The District Educational Officers are requested to conduct physical verification of the sampled schools with support of local RMSA staff, DCEB members and submit final version of sampled schools in the given format to this office on or before 8- I.2018.
Further all the District Educational Officers are informed to constitute district level committee as per the guidelines for smooth conduct of NAS Cycle — 2 class — X and inform the same to this office.

GUIDELINES
Go!, MHRD, NCERT Department of Educational Survey Division has initiated the NAS — X Cycle — 2 in the year of 2017-18. NCERT has completed the first cycle of NAS class X in the year of 2015. Further a NAS class - X Cycle — 2 is useful to understand National level assessment of learning levels across the states boards will be useful study for introspection and enhancing educational standards.
The main objectives of NAS Class - X Cycle - 2 are :
·        To study the achievement levels of students of class X.
·                      To study the difference in achievement levels with regard to area, gender, social group board and management of schools.
·                      To study the effect of intervening variables like students' home background, school and teacher on achievement levels of students.
·                      To compare the performance of students in all subject from Cycle — 1 to Cycle - 2.
Scope of NAS Class - X Cycle - 2 are:
·                      Sampling: NAS class - X Cycle 2 random sample will be taken from all the schools under all managements across the State.
·                      Sample schools:
-           80 schools per district
-           Replacement of schools should not exceed more than 15% in a district
Only one medium for one school is to be considered, which has maximum enrollment in class X.
·                      Number of students: Minimum of 15, maximum 45 students from each sample school.
·                      Subject to be assessed: English. Mathematics, Science, Social Science and One Modern Indian Language.


·                      Marks allotment:
- English                                             60 marks
- Mathematics                           60 marks
- Science                         -                                            60 marks
- Social Studies                                   60 marks
- Modern Indian Language -               60 marks
·                      Pattern of Examination:
- Only 45 students of class X will be tested in one school.
-           Out of 45 students 9 students will be tested for English.
-           9 students will be tested for Mathematics.
-           9 students will be tested for Science.
-           9 students will be tested for Social Students
-           9 students will be tested for Modern Indian Languages
·                      Duration of Examination: 90 schools per district
