Special Disability Leave for AP Government Employees
Special Disability Leave for Andhra Pradesh Government Employees is regulated under
Fundamental Rules 83 & 83-A and related Government Orders issued by the Finance and Services Departments.
This leave is intended to protect employees who suffer disability due to injuries or diseases caused while performing official duties.

Eligibility Conditions (As per GOs)
- The disability must be caused during or in consequence of official duty.
- Injury may be accidental or intentionally inflicted while performing lawful duties.
- The disability should manifest within three months from the date of occurrence.
- Certification by a District / State Medical Board is mandatory.
Maximum Period of Leave
- Special Disability Leave can be granted up to a maximum of 24 months for one disability.
- The leave may be sanctioned in one spell or in multiple spells.
- This leave can be combined with any other type of leave.

Proceedings & Sanction Procedure
- Employee submits application with incident and duty certificate.
- Case is referred to the Medical Board by the department.
- Medical Board issues certificate linking disability to official duty.
- Competent authority issues formal Proceedings Order citing FR 83 / FR 83-A and relevant GOs.
- Necessary entries are made in the Service Register.
Service Benefits
- The leave period counts as duty for increments.
- Qualifies for pensionary benefits.
- Not debited to Earned Leave (EL) or Half Pay Leave (HPL) accounts.
