The Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued a transformative order (G.O.MS.No. 11) under the Department of Grama Sachivalayams & Ward Sachivalayams, redefining the roles and responsibilities of Village/Ward Secretariat Functionaries. This initiative aligns with the Swarna Andhra @2047 vision and the GSWS Act 2023, aiming to enhance service delivery and citizen welfare at the grassroots level.

- Support implementation of all village/ward-level development plans.
- Participate in extension activities for government schemes.
- Capture and update citizen data periodically.
- Deliver government services and welfare schemes directly to citizens' doorsteps.
- Follow up on grievances until they are resolved satisfactorily.
- Respond to emergencies and disasters as needed.
- Qualify in prescribed examinations for continued service.
- Undertake any additional functions as directed by the government.
Administrative Oversight
The District GSWS Officer, in consultation with District Heads of Departments and under the approval of the District Collector, will prioritize tasks. District Collectors and Appointing Authorities are responsible for ensuring compliance and initiating disciplinary action if necessary.
